Shweta Mohan is a versatile Indian playback singer who has lent her voice to many successful Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi movies. As the daughter of a renowned Indian playback singer, Sujatha Mohan, she grew up watching her mother sing and so always wanted to be like her. While her mother's music has always inspired her, Shweta is a self-made musician like her mother.
Shweta is being trained in Carnatic classical vocal currently under Smt. Binni Krishnakumar (noted carnatic and playback singer), Western vocal and piano under Mr. Augustine Paul and Hindustani vocal under Sri. Fayaz Khan.
Shweta is the recipient of several coveted awards like - Filmfare Award, Kerala State Film Award, Radio Mirchi Award, Film Critics Award, Vanitha Film Award and many more. She is known for her effervescent style of singing and has rendered her voice for some of the most celebrated music directors in India like Sri Illayaraja, Sri AR Rahman, Sri Ousepachan, Sri M Jayachandran, Sri Deepak Dev, Sri Harris Jayaraj, Sri Yuvan Shankar Raja, Sri Sharreth, Sri Johnson. She is an admired singer in her branch, for more reasons, not only for being the daughter of a respectable singer.
Shweta's first recording was for Sri AR Rahman as part of the children's chorus for the songs 'Kuchi Kuchi Rakkamma' (Bombay) and 'Accham Accham Illai' (Indira). Her first Tamil solo was for the movie 'Three Roses' composed by Sri Karthik Raja and the first Malayalam solo was for the movie 'Lion' composed by Sri Deepak Dev. Shweta has come a long way since the start of her musical journey over 15 years ago and is going strong.
